Volunteering

Food preparation is a daily task which starts at 5:00 a.m. and continues throughout the day until the 8:30 p.m. evening meal has been served and all cleanup completed.

Men and women on the New Life Recovery Program are assigned positions in the kitchen as part of their work requirement and make up the main portion of the kitchen staff.

Many volunteers are also being used in food service. Individuals and groups often come to help us prepare and serve hot, nutritious, and delicious meals.  Of course, dishwashing and dining room cleanup is always a big help.

Some men and women come to the Mission addicted to drugs and dangerously underweight. Meals can save them before their health fails.

All food comes from donations by businesses such as grocery stores and from individuals.  Most of this food is picked up daily by Mission staff, program persons assigned that work detail as part of their program curriculum, or volunteers.

If you would like to donate food or other items for our food service ministry, please see our IMMEDIATE NEEDS page or contact Joel or Virginia Hanks at 248-4510 for a list of our needs.

To find out how you or your group can volunteer for meal preparation, food pickup, dining room and kitchen cleaning, or a number of other chore needs, please contact Becky St. John.
