Consumables used by UGM Residents

A typical day's Breakfast for our residents requires:

  • 30 dozen eggs
  • 8-10 loaves of bread
  • 10-12 gallons of Juice
  • 30-40 pounds of meat

• Service Numbers (Average) - 189 overnight guests
• 114 toilets (Main Facility/Youth Center)
• 720 rolls-monthly use of toilet paper
• 24 rolls of toilet paper a day
• $9.00 for 12 rolls of toilet paper

We use 462 disposable razors a week!


Toiletries for the Family Shelter

Just in the month of July 2011 the following items have been given out from the Family Shelter:

  • 17 packs of diapers
  • 16 large bottles of shampoo
  • 100 bottles of the small hotel shampoo bottles
  • 35 toothbrushes
  • 11 tubes of toothpaste
  • 12 large bottles of lotion
  • 40 small hotel bottles of shampoo.

Volunteer Facts

  • In 2010, Volunteers contributed over 54,000 hours.
  • Volunteers saved us over $474,000 in salary expenses.
  • Our entire team for the medical/dental clinic is staffed by highly trained professionals that are all volunteers.
  • Volunteers process all the recyclable materials under the direction of Micah Wells. In 2010 that was 1.7 million pounds.
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner done by New Hope are all prepared and served by volunteers.
  • Volunteers make all of our quilts, blankets and most of our men’s pajamas, knit caps, and hygiene bags.
  • Volunteers provide barber and hair styling services to our guests and clients.
  • We have 10 volunteer drivers that pick up donations 7 days a week.
  • After-school mentors, tutors, coaches, and some maintenance people at Madison House are all volunteers.

  • Total Meals served: 10,186
  • Education and Counseling Sessions: 1,518
  • Chapel Attendance: 2,282
  • Nights Shelter: 2,211
  • Food Boxes: 751
  • Clothing/Household/Hygiene Items given: 4,805

  • 1.7 million pounds of materials were recycled
  • More than 75 churches teach in our Chapel services in English and Spanish
  • Nights Lodging : 50,455
  • Meals Served: 178,630
  • Food Boxes: 7,924
  • Chapel Services: 47,809
  • Counseling/Training Hours: 12,580
  • Clothing/Household/Hygiene: 123,306
  • Madison House camp scholarships given: 164
  • Gifts given at the Madison House Christmas party: 1,574
  • The total value of the services rendered at the Union Gospel Mission in 2010 was $12,000,000; all provided by donations from individual donors and local organizations.
