Meals & Food Distribution

The Mission prepares and serves 300-500 meals every day. In addition to serving meals food boxes are distributed to needy families Monday, Wednesday and Friday. During the Thanksgiving holiday, the Mission distributes about 500 Thanksgiving food boxes (each box includes a turkey and the fixings for a complete holiday meal.)

Food Box Distribution:

Who is eligible to receive a foodbox?
Boxes of food are available to needy families. Boxes usually include canned goods, dry goods, fresh vegetables, and milk and meat when available. Contents will vary depending on availability of stock.

Where/When do you go to apply for foodboxes?

Location: UGM Pantry 1220 N. 1st St. Yakima, WA (Located adjacent to the Main Mission facility)

Food Box distribution times:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday
1:00pm – 3:00pm


Do I need to bring identification?

Please be sure to bring two pieces of identification:
1. A Washington state License or ID card with photo
2. A light or water bill, medical coupon etc. showing your name and address.

*Food boxes are only for families with children, frail elderly, or those whose mobility is handicapped. You may apply for a box once a month

  Each year the Union Gospel Mission of Yakima gives out 500 Thanksgiving food boxes to needy families.
