Narcotics/Alcoholics Victorious

NAV, the Union Gospel Mission's 12-step program, meets once a week for one hour, is open to the public, and is required for the first-year New Life Program enrollees. Persons attending these sessions are often blessed by guests from the Christian community who are well qualified to address the issues of addictions.

What is NAV?

NAV is a Christ Centered support group for drug free living.

NAV explains the senseless helplessness of a dysfunctional addictive life style and that the misbehavior of mankind is due to self-centeredness.

NAV points out that help and hope are found only in a committed relationship to Jesus Christ.

NAV is not a Drug Chemistry class, however various drugs are mentioned and discussed in the relationship to addiction.

Addiction is a self centered attempt to please ones self .  Much of the misbehavior of an individual occurs as he makes a haphazard attempt to maneuver through life without God's help. This state of mind results in anger, confusion, frustration and living a false life in a useless attempt to please one's self. This, in addition to other factors, leads to dysfunctional living, As a result, people are already "out-of-order" far before addiction occurs.

The 12 Steps to Victory used in NAV enable a person to turn away from dysfunctional misbehavior and to enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. NAV makes it clear that God's Word, the Holy Bible, provides answers to all life's problems concerning our relationship with God and others.

Individuals who study and follow the 12 Steps to Victory used in NAV combined with studying and obeying the other principles of God's Word can live a drug-free life that is wholesome and pleasing to God.
